We all face a battle with our egos at one or the other time in our life. If left unchecked, our ego can be the sole destroyer of our success. It is important that we take control of this and overcome it. So, here is a list of ten tips to overcome our ego.
1. Practice Detachment.
Detachment is a sort of natural ego antidote. It’s easy to get emotionally invested in our own work. It impairs the decisions we end up making. So practice seeing yourself with a little distance. Cultivate the ability to get out of your own head.
2. Become A Student.
Claiming that you have learned all you had to learn is a dangerous vice, because it prevents us from getting any better. Understand that learning never stops. We must always stay a student and admit that we can always learn something from everyone.
3. Always Be Guided By Morals.
We all are driven by certain values and principles. Our conscience knows the difference between right and wrong, so use it to guide you in the decisions you make in life. Don’t do anything that offends your soul, that makes you regret doing it.
4. Learn From Other’s Experiences.
Life is too short and we don’t get the chance to experience everything enough times to learn and implement them better the next time. Try learning from other people’s experiences and use that to become better version of yourself.
5. Introspect Yourself Often.
Whenever you feel accomplished and proud for a prolonged time, ask yourself the question for reasons for such feelings. It is necessary that you introspect yourself often so you stay humble, yet confident that you can learn from your mistakes.
6. Know About Your Inner Self.
When we’re working on becoming successful, we try to know all sorts of things on external aspects. However, we forget about how our mind can be the greatest obstacle that we face. Our inner forces matter just as much as the external forces do.
7. Practice Humility.
Our ego is something that is still our number one enemy in not only our career, but our relationships. We must know how ego can destroy us and work on overcoming it. Also how we can take control and rely on humility and confidence instead.
8. Forgive and Let Go.
The most powerful tool to learn to let go of our egos to make life easier is to practice forgiveness. We have to learn to forgive the people who hurt us and most importantly we have to learn to forgive ourselves. Accept, let go and keep moving forward.
9. Surrender Your Need Of Control.
Once you let your ego control your life, you will never be happy or relaxed because as soon as you lose one of the things that you identify with, the rest will fall like dominos and you will lose your happiness. Never let anything control your life.
10. Be Thankful.
Grateful people feel more love and compassion and feel more alive than those who don’t. Appreciate everything and everyone and you’ll discover true beauty in your life. Be thankful for all the people, experiences, lessons and mistakes.
